Thursday Inspiration...

Just wanted to share some inspiring words I found :

When you are describing,
A shape, or sound, or tint;
Don't state the matter plainly,
But put it in a hint;
And learn to look at all things,
With a sort of mental squint.

It's a Challenge!!

I've been wrestling for a while with the idea of having challenges posted and finally decided to give it a try and see if we have enough creative energy to get them going.
So the First Etsy Cottage Style Challenge is officially on its way, and it's all about "Frames"....

...any frame, any style, any medium!!!
You can use these images or any other frame to make a collage or an assemblage if you are a Mixed Media Artist...
...or a Digital Artist....

You can also decorate a real frame or show us how you use a frame in a creative decorative way around the house...
Possibilities are endless, but only one entry per person, please!
You can email your pictures (max. 2) to migambeta@yahoo.com, I'll post all the entries and we can all vote for our favorite.

In a few words...

What: Challenge
Inspiration: Frames
Medium: Any
Artists: All
Deadline: May 30th
Prize: Lots of exposure for your Etsy store, website and blog....

OK, I'll come up with something better, I promise. Maybe a bag of goodies????, stamps?, ephemera?, fabric?, chocolate?....trip to Hawaii??...just kidding!!

Hope you are in a "Challenge Frame of mind" and decide to play!

Friday Fun

Happy Friday Ladies!
First of all, thank you so much to all the wonderful bloggers that joined the party. Hope everyone had a great time visiting , getting inspired and leaving comments to encourage and support each other. I really had a great time reading each post!

Today I'd like to share a video I found about embossing powders. Let me apologize first if you think it's too basic as I know that some of you just create some incredible stuff. I'll guess this is for a beginner, like me. I always saw these products at my local Michael's but was never sure what they were for or how to really use them...now I know!

The link to watch Tim Holtz creating a beautiful tag is:

Hope you take about 3 or 4 minutes to check it out. I'll definitely try to make something with this technique because I love the vintage, worn look these products give!

Also, I would like to invite you to check our list of cottage blogs. We have received many new Members and they all have something wonderful and creative to share...lots of giveaways out there!!!Don't miss them!
I'm off now to enjoy the rest of my Friday and I wish you'll do the same.

Have a wonderful weekend, full of cupcakes and pink glitter!!!

Blog Party Time!!

Hi there! I'm glad you made it...make yourself comfortable and enjoy our May Etsy Blog Party...

If you attended our last party, you know that I love blue transferware dishes, but that's not my only obsession...Oh no!! I think I have more collections that I care to admit, but for my reader's sake I will not get into details...
Let's just say that original old, chippy, shabby, peeling paint makes my heart skip a beat...

or 2...

or 3.....

Yeap! I guess I have a lot of lead around me, but I don't chew on my shabby stuff, so I guess I'm safe!!!

I just love how these pieces add so much character to my cookie-cutter home.
I always say, they are just like people: a little beat up, by not means perfect, but willing to keep going when given a chance....

Before you leave don't forget to add your name to Mr. Linky at the end of this post to let everyone know that you are participating in our Party!
I can't wait to read about you and what makes your heart "skip a beat"!
Please add our button to your blog post and don't forget to send your friends over, because like any other party: the more, the merrier!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you had a blast and I'll be visiting you very soon..."see" you at your blog!

It takes a village....

If you follow this blog, you probably noticed that I love phrases and proverbs. They are usually the inspiration or the end to many of my posts. One of my favorite ones is:

"It takes a whole village to raise a child"

Although it became famous after Hillary Clinton used as her book title, it's actually a very old, African proverb, I love it and I believe in it with my whole heart... And you know what? I'm not the only one!! Take a look at this video I got from Janet, from "It's an evolution"...

Cute or what???...I know, very cute!!! And is dedicated to you....

To all the team moms, the carpool moms, the PTA moms, the Brownie Leaders, the Coach moms, and all the volunteers working with children, thank you for making a better village for every kid...Happy Mother's Day!

Enjoy your day and come back on Monday, it's party time again...I'll tell you all the details then!

Mother's Humor...

May is here and Mother's Day is rapidly approaching.... How exciting!...our very own day!!!
A day with no laundry, no cooking, no cleaning, just pure pampering, right?...One can only dream....Anyway, if you are a Mom, a Step mom or a Grandma raising the third generation of the family you have probably felt like this before...

About school work:
"I'm not upset that your lamb followed you to school, Mary, but I would like to know how he got a better grade than you!"
Mary's Mom

About their sense of style:
"But, Albert, it's your senior picture. Can't you do something about your hair? Styling gel, mousse, something....?"
Albert Einstein's Mom

"Again with the stovepipe hat, Abe? Can't you just wear a baseball cap like the other kids?"
Abraham Lincoln's Mom

About curfews:
"That's a nice story, but now tell me where you've really been for the past 3 days!"
Jonah's Mom

About how much they cost a month:
"It's a nice car, Bruce, but do you realize how much the insurance will be!"
Batman's Mom

About their social life:
"Clark, your father and I have discussed it, and we've decided you can have your own telephone line. Now will you quit spending so much time in all those phone booths!"
Superman's Mom

And how about those nights when you just want some peace and quiet...you did everything you were supposed to do during the day and now you just want an hour for yourself... just you and your glitter...

"Of course I'm proud that you invented the electric light bulb, dear. Now turn off that light and get to bed!"
Thomas Edison's Mom

Happy Monday!
