What Is Cottage Style ?

Back today with some thoughts on Cottage Style and some pretty photos

I don't know about you but I've been thinking a lot about how styling
So I have created some thoughts, questions on the topic of cottage style.

How do you describe Cottage Style ?
What type of Cottage Style is your own ?
Where do you find your type of Cottage Inspiration ?
These questions really make you think about your image your products
your style maybe its time to rethink your brand your style, ideas how to keep it fresh, unique, you

Is it:

  • Well-worn or reused vintage looks using painted pieces, pale floral fabrics, and pretty accessories with a romantic feel
  • Painted wood furnishings, a mixture of old and new, colors from primary to soft hues
  • Soft and cozy, warm and inviting, a bit frilly and romantic, with your personal touch thrown in to make it all your own
  • An eclectic mix of antique, vintage and new ... a style that embodies simplicity, practicality, diversity, and flexibility
 There are several different styles within this one, to name a few there are

* Vintage bungalow Cottage
* French Cottage
* Country Cottage
*Shabby Cottage
* Beach or Lakehouse Cottage

For me cottage style is about handmade or found objects crafted or refurbished with loving care and individual style. It's about color and texture. It's about mixing the old with the new. It's about combining beauty with practicality. It's about what home means to each of us.

Love this post...yes "cottage" is where you call home! My heart is romantic cottage decor, but my home---ArborOak Cottage---as we call it, is actually mission arts and crafts style. It was a compromise I made with the DH as he was tired of all the flowers in the decor. But I still have one room that is flowery:)

Lovely photos.... :)
My style is more of the darker "Paris Flea Market" style....when we first got married {about 21 years ago}....I had more shabby white pretties.....for probably 10 years or so. Like often, I get tired and change up and re-arrange :)

Regardless, my style is still shabby, tattered, vintage, antique, warm and cozy. I think we can all relate to the same style whether we have shabby white rose decor.....or darker shabby flea market decor :)

Cottage Style can be so many different things and mixture of all of them. I tend more towards the vintage bungalow cottage style, but I also love french cottage too. They're all wonderful!
